“Ice” is a reflection of an addiction on a person’s life, the foetal position reflects the isolation, fragmentation, downward spiral as well as attempts of self comfort and ensuring depression. I attempted to use mediums and techniques that depict depth and the binding impenetrable hardness of the ice devoid of warmth. Sadly this reflects the coldness and hardening of the addict’s heart even toward family and loved ones. Their primary motivation is consuming yet more “ICE”.
The use of newspaper cuttings both reflects and confirms the social consequences of ice addiction on both family and society as a whole. FROM AN ADDICT’S PERSPECTIVE EVEN THE CONSEQUENCES OF THEIR ADDICTION BECOMES SUBMERGED IN ICE CAUSING THEM TO BECOME EVEN MORE ISOLATED AND HARDENED WITH ONLY THE OCCASIONAL CRACKS REFLECTING SMALL GLIMMERS OF HOPE.
